Calculation Methods

The calculator uses two different methods:

  1. U.S. Navy Method - Uses measurements of your neck, waist, and (for women) hips to estimate body fat
  2. BMI Method - Uses your height and weight along with age to estimate body fat

Both methods provide estimates rather than exact measurements, but can give you a good understanding of your body composition.
